Diabetes – Curse or a Gift?

in This & That

About 4 months ago, I had a doctor's checkup, had the obligatory "blood worK",
and then the follow up visit with my Doc. Imagine the shock when he informed me I
was Type 2 diabetic and would be taking pills, would have to lose 50lb off my kinda
flabby frame, and worse of all, partake of daily exercise. This part was mandatory he
said, or be prepared for the needle and insulin. Not a future I looked forward to.

Well, since that consultation I've taken my health to heart. I've embarked on one  of
those muscle building diets, and dedicated an hour a day to simply having a brisk walk.

The result? Well, I'm down almost 40lbs, my blood sugars are at normal levels, my blood
pressure and cholesterol have dropped to acceptable levels and I feel on top of the
world! I actually look forward to my daily walk!

So was getting diagnosed with diabetes the curse I thought it was, or, maybe a gift?

Just maybe it'll be the gift of a longer life!
