Have you noticed how Guest Posting seems to be the new craze in getting valuable, & lasting back links to your website? There must something to it, as some of the pioneers of effective, white hat, SEO experts quietly utilize it’s effectiveness. In fact a couple of my mentors, Paula & Wanda, swear by it, and go so far as to say this is the one type of back linking that you should be spending the majority of your time at.
They tell me they first learned of this from one of the pioneers of guest posting, James Martell, who has even coined an acronym for it, PAD, (Professional Article Distribution)
I’ve been spending some time learning this “art”, so I can augment the linking I do with the Actually Rank service I subscribe to, but like everything that’s effective in this business, it’s also not easy. In fact, so far I’m finding it quite time consuming, and as I delve into it further, I know it’ll have a fair cost involved, as there is no way I’ll be able to handle all the article writing required, so I’ll be relying a lot on outsourcing.
(Speaking of outsourcing, I subscribed to the Virtual Staff Finder blog recently, and so far I really like what I see. I’m certain that when I’m ready for a full time VA, I’ll be calling on Chris’s service to make it as painless as possible.)
In the meantime, like everything, before I jump in to deeply, I’m going to learn the ropes of guest posting myself. One of the most difficult components is actually finding suitable websites that will accept such articles.
In my quest to find blogs to approach with offers of supplying a free article, I came upon this simple little tool. It’s great, give it a whirl & try it out.
It works even better when you are running SEO Quake

Well as for me, guest posting can really help site get unique articles from their site. And I think that once you allow guest posting from your site, you can generate traffic easily!

In my experience, guest posting is about the best possible way to generate high quality links for your website. There are other ways of generating links that are faster and work well in other ways, but guest posting allows you to get the juicy in-post contextual links that last for many years. As long as the blog you are posting on is reasonably well managed to prevent spam abuse, then that guest post is going to be delivering links that get even more powerful over time. The best part is that your competitors are too lazy to go get these because they would rather use Xrumer and other Black hat software instead of doing real work that lasts long term.

Yes Ted – I’ve seen quite a turn around in traffic since learning the “art” of guest posting. You do have to do it properly though. James Martell has it down pat.
Thanks Bruce, do you know when they will be re-open again? I tried to join but it looks like only the largest packages is still open and since I don’t do SEO services or need that much links, it looks like I’ll have to wait a bit longer.
I get invitations for link exchange to some of my websites. Most of these offers have the same text and the sender is probably working for someone else, a company perhaps. The blogs where I get my link looks good and my links often come under the title Links or Partners.
Now I have a couple of questions. First, some of the offers for link exchange are for niches that not match in any way, like gambling and weight loss for example. Second, the link exchanges are reciprocal.
What’s your opinion about this kind of link exchange?
Thanks
Louise

Hi,
I like to know what do you think about Actually Rank so far? Any major improvements from these links? I’ve been on the fence since it went live and just recently, they open their door again.

Hello Elbert,
Hard to tell if the improvements are specifically from AR or elsewhere, as I also am using Build My Rank to the same sites. There have been definitive improvements though. There’s lots of approved comments when I check backlinks in Yahoo Site Explorer, so the method of commenting taught is obviously working. They are easy enough to do, either yourself, or outsourced.

I agree with Shawn Bruce… I can now say I’m among those who have written a guest post. So far my post has the most comments than any other guest post Steve has had on his blog. I’ve gotten some new visitors to my blogs from that post as well. I’ve now gone on to do three interviews on other blogs and it’s really helped build up more traffic to my site. Of course I did start really blog commenting more at the first of this year and my main blog has shot up to a PR4 now. I’ll take that direction any day because these are genuine people coming to your blog leaving comments. Okay probably about 99% of them, you’ll still get those others.
Good luck with guest posting. It’s well worth your time and efforts.
Adrienne
Bruce is correct here. Especially the recent Google shake-up. Not to overtake your post here, but to add to it, here is my take on things. I have been in Internet Marketing for a few years now and as I look back at my results that are both positive AND negative, do you know which are left standing?
My sites with 100% unique content. Add to that the ones with backlinks from DIFFERENT sites that are on different IP addresses. Namely blogs. Comments. You do not necessarily need loads of them either. Link diversity from non-spammy sites are carrying more and more weight nowadays.
Sure there are mass submitter tools, some even have their place, but for your important/money makers, finding yourself a good batch of blogs to comment on is key. I shirked this idea for so long because I was so caught up in the mass automation tools that I had my hands on.
So at the end of the day, it is not he who has the most backlinks wins. That can be done in a matter of minutes. It is he who has the more DIVERSIFIED links wins… IMHO.
Thanks for the great read Bruce,
Shawn
