The FTC Decision – In Language Even I Can Understand

in What I'm doing

Anybody who is remotely involved with online marketing or blogging, should be aware of the recent FTC decision to impose regulations on Social Media Marketing. I’ve tried reading the official documents, but am afraid my brain is not to good with “legaleze”, and was very pleased to come upon this excellent post that has broken it down into my style of language.

The FTC Update – In Plain English

What I particularly like  about this post is the plain English interpretation. I’m certainly no lawyer so I appreciate it when someone breaks things down and gets to the bottom line.

Reading between the lines I think if you are open, honest and transparent in how you present yourself as an online marketer, you will be okay. You will need to post disclaimers and acknowledge your relationship with any merchant promote or review however.

What I’m unsure of still, is how far these FTC regulations will be enforced. Can they reasonably expect to have any affect on some budding marketer from, say, India?

As always, comments are welcomed…
